About Caroline Haldeman

Caroline Haldeman I am extremely fortunate to have an "escape place" near the world's first International Dark Sky City, Flagstaff, Arizona. Flagstaff has the second highest altitude among metropolitan cities and the second largest county in the 48 contiguous states. It has four distinct seasons at 7000' elevation and is located in the largest Ponderosa Pine Forest in the world. This amazing environment is a photographer's paradise.

All of these images were taken in Northern Arizona, with the majority taken in and near Flagstaff. Many were taken from my cabin's property and around my neighborhood.

For my night time images, I use a Canon 1200D (unmodified) camera along with lenses that I like to purchase used for a bargain, and a Canon Powershot SX430 IS for my day time images.

My favorite night time subject is the Milky Way, however, I also enjoy taking images of the Moon, Zodiacal Light, meteors, Orion, Pleiades, Andromeda, and just a beautiful sky full of stars. By day, I love capturing beautiful cloud formations and nature. As evening approaches, I really enjoy watching and photographing the sunset, especially after a monsoon storm when the clouds produce such amazing colors and shapes.

These are all single images, they are not stacked or tracked. I do not use Photoshop, any filters, a mount, or a tracking device. Often, I do not even use a tripod or a remote shutter as most of my images are unplanned.

Please note, I can upload a specific image in black and white for you also, just ask!

I greatly appreciate all comments and feedback and would love to hear from you!

Thank You for looking at my photographs.
I hope that you find a special one that speaks to you.
